SE emphasizes family engagement, expectations at open house

Wow! What a great turn out for our September 13, 2018 events.

Staff at The Varnett School Southeast was super excited to have a total of 64 parents and more than 100 students in attendance at our 2018 Open House, Title I meeting and “The Power of Love”- parent and family engagement event.

Campus Director Jessika Hearne began the event with a warm welcome and then passed the torch to Instructional Coach Deonna Benton, who presented our parent orientation recap and discussed our campus’s positive behavior plan with Southeast families. Following her presentation, Ms. Hearne began the Title I meeting.

Parents and families were informed of where the campus currently stands academically, and our plan to get the school to where it should be. After the Title I presentation, Parent Liaison Shannon Green-Payne began the parent and family engagement event entitled the “Power of Love.” Staff passed out parents surveys and a “love language" survey.”

Staff awarded door prizes to the excited parents, who all agreed to share their prizes with Ms. Hearne.  Mr. Lonnie Reynolds, athletic director of The Varnett Public School, and Southeast PE Coach Kendrick Donahoe, shared information about sports and extracurricular activities. Classroom visits were conducted by parents shortly thereafter.

Thank you so much, Varnett Southeast family, for your support. We look forward to seeing you at all of our future events. Please remember to check our website, varnett.org, weekly for calendar updates and upcoming events.
